A Year of Innovation

In a year when many other states vied for the top spot in innovation, Michigan made a bold statement. The state introduced its first-ever Chief Innovation Ecosystem Officer, Ben Marchionna, who is tasked with expanding Michigan’s legacy of fostering great thinkers and innovators.

To ensure continued progress, Gov. Whitmer announced the R&D tax credit, Innovation Fund, and Infrastructure for Innovation. The R&D tax credit incentivizes Michigan businesses to partner with research universities to commercialize groundbreaking world-class technologies. The Innovation Fund will help launch hundreds of new Michigan-based startups.
